Artisanal Finish & Rustic Charm — These ceramic buttons are hand-shaped and hand-glazed in my small farm studio in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Québec. Each button is unique — subtle variations in shape and color give every piece its own authentic character.

The back of the button is not glazed, but it has been sanded smooth so it won’t snag on knitted fibers.

Durability and Care: All buttons have been fired and glazed in the kiln until reaching stoneware hardness. However, they are not plastic buttons, and they can break—though this is unlikely—if struck very forcefully against a hard surface.

Most of the buttons are quite lightweight (about the same weight as plastic buttons, or slightly heavier) and will not distort your knitting. Naturally, larger buttons are heavier than smaller ones.

They are washable and are not affected by water or detergents. They can be machine-washed—ideally on a delicate cycle. Of course, handwashing knitwear is always best. Air drying is recommended to prevent the buttons from hitting the metal drum of the dryer.
